My first place of my own was an apartment. I loved it and it fit my young life style perfectly. No yard work or shoveling. From there I went to home ownership, which comes with a whole lot of responsibility and surprise expenses! Someday’s I miss that easy little apartment. 🙂

When my husband and I were first married, we lived in an apartment and it was so much fun. We’ve owned our own house for years, but I remember all the good times we had in our first apartment.
I would never choose to rent vs buy but I know not everyone has that option. The thing about renting is that it is just throwing money down the drain each and every month because at the end of the lease you don’t have anything to show for it.

I don’t think we could ever rent an apartment. We have 5 people in a large 2 bedroom duplex right now and we don’t have enough room. Not sure I could downsize enough, plus the neighbors in apartments from my experience are often too noisy.
I’m all for investing in real estate, it doesn’t take a genious to know when the right time to buy and sell. For example just because my husband and I bought when it was a buyers market we could sell it now and pocket 110,000! You can’t do that if you rent.

I think houses gives you more space but are usually in a more remote area away from the city. Apartments are more affordable and has easier access to the city.

For me, the biggest benefit of apartments is that there is less to clean.

A house for rent would be nice but it still depends on the location and the condition of the house. I guess there really are pros and cons to everything.
I have yet to rent a house! I’d love the space and privacy that’s for sure, although rent is so crazy here in Seattle I don’t know if that will ever happen. ?
I’m not in a position to buy, so renting seems like the most viable option for me. I’m in a transient period in my life and I don’t know where I’ll be, so property acquisition seems like a risky move because I’d need a quick turnaround.

Apartment and preferably the top floor. At this stage of life, I don’t want or need the responsibilities of taking care of a house.
